Puzzle Box is a VR puzzle game that stands out for its 100% hand-painted art, immersing players in a world of fantasy and surrealism. Inspired by the enigmatic “Himitsu-Bako” or “Secret Boxe”, this game transcends puzzle-solving by integrating deep and meaningful stories into each challenge. As players explore the boxes, they engage in a variety of interactions — from testing fits and levers to searching for hidden keys — each step unraveling fragments of an immersive dreamlike tale that culminates in a moment of revelation and complete understanding.
The inaugural tale, “The Immigrants,” weaves historical facts into a compelling narrative, addressing the challenges and hopes of leaving everything behind in search of a new life in unknown lands. Puzzle Box invites players from around the world to dive into a truly global experience. The art technique, refined in our previous project, UNBINARY, gives Puzzle Box a unique visual style, promoting unprecedented immersion in environments that defy reality, making it an essential game for VR puzzle enthusiasts seeking innovation, meaningful narratives, and stunning aesthetics.
Puzzle Box is developed by Ludact, a Brazilian veteran game studio founded in 2005 and based in São Paulo. Ludact focuses on impactful XR games, and worked mainly for campaigns and social organizations until 2017.
The game idea dates back to 2022, enabling the studio to focus more on their own IP and consolidate what they call “critical entertainment”: full-blown independent games that will engage players and challenge their visions of the world while fostering meaningful emotions and reflections.
Feb 17, 2020 – Unbinary announced at the Indie Mega Booth
